Power Washing, Pressure Washing & Soft Washing: What’s the Difference? – You’ve likely heard these three terms thrown about in regards to exterior maintenance. We’re here to eliminate the confusion and help you get them all straight. No matter what, you’ll need a professional for the job. Clearview Washing has all the right equipment and products to get the job done right.

Let’s go over the differences between power washing, pressure washing and soft washing:

Power Washing

This process removes surface material such as dirt, mildew, and mold from exteriors like siding and concrete through the use of pressurized water. It differs from pressure washing in that power washing uses hot water. Water that’s been heated to a high temp can break down contaminated materials from your home much better than cold water. Power washing uses heavy duty equipment to get the job done.

The power involved in these machines means the job should only be done by a professional. The uninitiated can easily lose control of the nozzle and cause damage to the property. You should only use power washing on hard surfaces such as sidewalks, patios, and driveways.

Pressure Washing

Although pressure and power washing are very similar, there are slight differences. Like we said above, pressure washing involves a normal temperature of water. The force of the water is just as strong as that with power washing so it can effectively remove dirt, mold, mildew and hazardous materials.

Again, only a professional should perform pressure washing, and it should only be done on hard surfaces. Don’t use it on your siding or your roofing. Even some decking materials can be susceptible to damage, so keep it to the concrete and pavement.

Soft Washing

This is where the real difference comes in. Soft washing is very different than the above two options because it utilizes eco-friendly and environmentally-safe chemical solutions as well as a gentle stream of water to clean exteriors. The siding and roofing of your home is very delicate, even though it may seem like it can withstand harsh weather conditions. Your vinyl siding can get dented and pitted, and your wood siding can result in chipped paint.

Here at Clearview Washing, we only use soft washing for the ultimate in protection of your home. The solutions we use are gentle enough on your siding, roofing and surrounding landscape, yet powerful enough to get off several layers of dirt. We also use the proper safety equipment so no one gets hurt.

Once we apply the chemical solution to your home, we let it sit for a few minutes so it can get into the cracks and pores to further break down any dirt, mold, or mildew. Then, we utilize a low-rinse system to remove the dirt and cleaning solution. Not much more powerful than a simple garden hose, we can assure you that your home’s exterior will not be damaged in the process.
