Monmouth Park is a historic wedding venue located in Oceanport, NJ. The venue features indoor and outdoor private venues that can accommodate 35-225 guests. Its picturesque location overlooking the horse racing track makes it a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your special day.

The facility opened on July 30, 1870, and was created in an attempt to increase summer trade for beach communities. Initially, the track earned distinction as the Newmarket of America due to its high caliber of racing. However, three years later financial problems forced the track to close.

Remnants of the original Monmouth Park can still be seen around the track today. The facility is home to the internationally known Haskell Invitational and offers simulcast wagering on races from across the country. Monmouth also offers family fun on Sundays with clowns, pony rides, and other activities for children.

The venue offers several parking options for your convenience. Those looking to drive can park in the Grandstand or Clubhouse lots, while those traveling with a group of 25 or more can reserve spaces on the backstretch.

The main track is a one-mile oval with four inches of cushion composed of sand and topsoil, which is home to the chutes used in six furlongs and one-and-a-quarter-mile races. A special train called the Pony Express once ran between Hoboken Terminal and the racetrack during the racing season, which provided a great opportunity for railfans to scout out equipment.

Visitors can track their favorite horses on 600 color television screens throughout the venue, and there’s also a free handicapping seminar where the day’s races are analyzed. The event is a must for any horse racing fan. This article is worth reading.
